Expert: Sergio Mejía – Creative Director

 

I have been directing animated series and films for more than 15 years. I studied 3D animation because I believe in the power of this technique to tell stories and I have been part of the growth of this industry. I created my own company: 3DADOS MEDIA where we create stories that connect with your audience in different animation formats.

I directed SABOGAL, the first Colombian film nominated for Best Film at the most important animation festival in the world: Annecy (France). I want to teach you the keys to the creative process to create your own animated series.

Our Animation Projects

Espantijos

I am co-creator and director of ESPANTIJOS, a children’s and transmedia project that starts with an animated series and includes a VR game for Oculus Quest and a collectible card game with augmented reality. Nominated for best animated series in Chilemonos and ComKids Prix Jeunesse Iberoamericano.

Animalarium

My first short film is ANIMALARIO, winner for best animated short film at Los Angeles Movie Awards and Rome Independent Film Festival. Official selection in more than thirty international festivals, including Hiroshima and AnimaMundi. First Colombian short film with AR App and Facebook App. Its launch was attended by more than a thousand people.

Sabogal the Movie

Co-directed the feature film SABOGAL (106 MIN) based on the series. First Colombian film nominated for best film in the most important animation festival in the world: Annecy (France) and in the most renowned animation festivals in the world. For its theatrical exhibition I designed and led two transmedia experiences.

Yellow and Violet

Creator and director of AMARILLO Y VIOLETA, the first animated series premiered and broadcasted in 10 public channels in Colombia on the same day. Winner at Bogota Audiovisual Market, selection at Pixelatl and Iberseries – IPI Pitch. Double nomination at the India Catalina Awards for Best Children’s Audiovisual Production and Best Animated Audiovisual Production.

Sabogal the series

I was creator and co-director of the TV series SABOGAL (20 ep x 25 min) for CANAL CAPITAL. First series in Latin America with simultaneous body, facial and voice capture. Winner of Best Animation at the XIX Lápiz de Acero Award. Nominated for Best Animated Audiovisual Production at the India Catalina Awards.

Eri's unusual secret

Creator and director of EL INSÓLITO SECRETO DE ERI is our most recent animation project in production. Winner of the Ministry of Culture – Development Grant for Best Children’s Series Project and the Ministry of Culture – Best Children’s Series Production. BAM Animation selection at the Bogota Audiovisual Market.

Jukumari

Creator and director of our feature film in development JUKUMARI. Winner of the Development Stimulus of the Film Development Fund of Proimagenes Colombia.
Animation! selection at Ventana Sur, Argentina.
Emerging #Animación Emergente selection at BioBIoCine, Chile.
